Processional Order

 

The traditional order of how the bride and her entourage arrive at the wedding ceremony.

 

Grandparents

 

The stepmother of the groom can be escorted down the aisle by:

            The father of the groom

            An usher

            An usher with the father of the groom following behind them

 

The stepmother of the bride can be escorted down the aisle by:

            The head usher

            A groomsman

            Other family member

 

The mother of the groom can be escorted down the aisle by:

            Traditionally by the father of the groom

            The head usher

            The groom

            If remarried, the current husband may choose to follow behind his wife or escort her

 

The mother of the bride can be escorted down the aisle by:

            The Best Man

            Other family member

            If remarried, the current husband may choose to follow behind his wife or escort her

 

After the mothers are seated, the officiant, groom, and best man enter from the side and wait at the alter.  The groomsmen may enter with the groom or escort the bridesmaids.

Don't forget to smile!  It's a good idea to have a friend with a written list helping to line up the bridal party and telling each person when to go.  They can stand just beyond where the guests can see them.  They should also remind each person to smile when they're walking down the aisle.
